This year marks the beginning of the "14th Five-Year Plan", and China's construction of a manufacturing powerhouse is entering a crucial period of the second decade. Facing the intensified uncertainty in the external environment, the increasingly fierce global industrial competition, and the accelerated evolution of the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, accelerating the construction of a manufacturing powerhouse plays an irreplaceable and important role in enhancing China's comprehensive national strength, ensuring national security, and promoting high-quality economic development. Industrial mother machines, as the cornerstone industry in the manufacturing sector, their supporting role will directly affect the development speed and level of a manufacturing powerhouse. Especially in the current era of frequent geopolitical conflicts, industrial mother machines have become even more crucial for ensuring national defense security and promoting the healthy development of the economy. This article summarizes the proposals and suggestions put forward by representatives and committee members from industries related to industrial mother machines during the Two Sessions regarding industry development. The content covers all aspects of industry development, including accelerating the engineering application and industrialization of key common technologies; supporting the growth and strengthening of core components and key technology enterprises; building an industrial data governance system and leveraging AI to facilitate the intelligent transformation of manufacturing; continuously enhancing the systematicness, resilience, and competitiveness of the industrial system; strengthening the cultivation of high-end composite talents and vocational skills; and so on. It can be seen that more proposals and suggestions regarding industry development are aimed at the high end and propose specific methods and paths. The focus of discussion is more concentrated on deep-seated industry bottlenecks such as basic theoretical research, key common technology research and development, and the independent control of core components. From the suggestions and proposals of representatives and committee members, one can feel that the industrial mother machine field is constantly converging on a broad consensus and a strong synergy for future development. Facing the "14th Five-Year Plan", the industrial mother machine industry should strengthen top-level design at the national level, coordinate resource investment, take enterprises as the main body, and continuously innovate in deeper bottleneck links such as control systems, core components, and high-precision sensors, accelerate breakthroughs, and continuously deepen the realization of core technology autonomy and controllability, to lay a solid foundation for building a manufacturing powerhouse.
